If Kieran McGeown (179) and Michael Carlsen (15) ride as well as they drove the truck down, they will be on lap record pace. The truck is now parked at the circuit ready for us to unpack tomorrow.
Bring it on!
The truck is packed – Team Tiger are a part of a 7 man Queensland contingent, all 7 riders are from the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland, we have 12 bikes loaded in the truck – 8 Honda CBR250RR’s and 4 Honda VFR400’s. The whole group has done an excellent job in preparing their bikes and building the crates so it was possible to get them all to fit in the truck. Kieran and Michael Carlsen are doing the hard work on the big drive down, so the rest of the group can fly down like factory pilots riders.
We have received our final instructions, the schedule shows P6 250 sharing a grid with P5 350, so that should lead to some excellent racing. The 400’s have been accepted in with the P6 750’s and 1300’s, so the 400’s will be in a race with some very cool, very fast bikes.
Team Tiger is very excited to have been accepted to the 2014 AMCN International Island Classic (find out more about the event at http://www.islandclassic.com.au).
Simon Dickson will be racing his CBR250RR in the P6 250 Production class, and has also been accepted to compete in the P6 750 class aboard a VFR400 (kindly supplied by Anthony Carroll).
Gary Dickson and Kieran McGeown have been accepted into the P6 250 Production class and plan on improving their lap times from 2013 and keeping up the front of a what will be a much larger field in 2014.
Current information from PI Ops has P6 250 sharing the grid with the P5 350 class, with such closely matched classes we expect it to deliver incredible racing competition.
The truck is booked (special thanks to Gold Coast Truck Rentals) and crates for the bikes are being sourced and modified to fit. It’s going to be an epic journey. With a large crew from the Motorcycle Sportsmen of Queensland heading down comprising of 14 bikes, 7 riders, and at least 9 pit crew. This trip is going to be made memorable thanks to Brendan, who is will be filming and documenting the trip!
There is still time to get you or your works name on a bike, contact simon@teamtiger.com.au, we would love to have you as part of the team. If you are in the area drop in to the Island Classic and say hi!
