With the 2014 Southern Downs Road Race Series now complete, and Simon finishing as 250 Production champion for 2014. We have put together a breakdown of how he his 2014 campaign went. The key was consistency, never finishing off the podium!

The following graph was built by inputting every racing lap into a spreadsheet to generate the average lap time for each round, the average flying lap – which excluded the first lap where bikes start stationary, and the fastest lap for each round of racing.
From the graph you can see the level of on track competition peaked at round 3, the pace was very high and both Jeff Duke and Sam Phillips were pushing to the maximum. Jeff was unable to attend round 4 or 5. Sam endured a number of mechanical issues and on track incidents that slowed the pace in round 4, and was unable to attend round 5. With Simon’s two main competitors absent the pace was reduced to bring the bike home safely in first place for the final 4 races at round 5.
